JOIN US FOR THIS YEAR’S VIRTUAL BIG SLEEP OUT!

This March the Huddersfield Town Foundation is encouraging you to take part in its annual Big Sleep Out event with a difference – from your own home!

Usually taking place at the John Smith’s Stadium, the Big Sleep Out is designed to increase awareness of the homelessness issue in Kirklees and raise money for charities working to combat that.

Last year’s instalment raised more than £20,000 alone, with the total raised across the three years totalling more than £130,000.

With the latest Government restrictions preventing large-scale events, this year’s event will be a little bit different, but we hope to harness the same amount of community spirit.

Supporters are encouraged to bed down for the night in their garden, driveway, garage, shed or any suitable outdoor space within the boundary of your garden on Friday 12 March 2021.

Our staff team will provide a range of activities, tasks and entertainment virtually – both via video conferencing software and our social media platforms. Full details will be confirmed in due course.

On the news Lisa Bottomley, Fundraising Executive at the Town Foundation, commented:

“The Big Sleep Out is one of the biggest events in the Foundation calendar and I’m pleased that we’re still able to run it – albeit in a different manner than usual.

“The night will include a number of virtual elements and we’d love to see people take part across the country to recreate that community feel. It would be fantastic to see any of our supporters from across the world getting involved too.

“Keep an eye out for further updates and I look forward to seeing you all online in March!”

Participants are encouraged to share photos and videos of themselves taking part throughout the night on social media, using the hashtag #HTFBigSleepOut.
