Pair Climb Heights For Foundation!

Two competitors stepped up to the towering challenge of scaling Yorkshire’s tallest building to fundraise for the Town Foundation over the weekend.

The first ever Great Yorkshire Stair Climb on Saturday saw 124 people take on the exhausting climb up 522 steps to the summit of Bridgewater Place in Leeds city centre.

Among those racing to the top were husband and wife team Howard and Kathryn Rushfirth of Rushfirth Creative, all for the sake of their two favourite Huddersfield charities; the Town Foundation and the Club’s Charity Partner the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

Howard said “We were approached by organiser Gary of G Rex Fitness to create the branding for the event, and along with co-sponsors ASDA and business group The Yorkshire Mafia, we gave our services for free. We also decided to participate on the day to raise funds and awareness for a couple of local charities that are close to our hearts.

“We have been working with Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice for a while now and child welfare is a big deal to us. In recent weeks we have seen the things that The Huddersfield Town Foundation have been doing. They share the same ethos as us in terms of investing in the next generation and we were delighted to be able to show our support for them through our stair climb challenge.”

The Town Foundation’s Corporate Fundraising Officer Mandy Barwick added:

“I would like to thank Howard and Kathryn for doing the Great Yorkshire Stair Climb on behalf of the Town Foundation; combined with Charity Partner the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice it was for two great causes both with a children at heart and not only will it raise funds, but it also helps to raise the profile of the Town Foundation – which was only formed in the summer of this year and is already making a real difference in the community.”
