Female Participation

Our female participation programme includes three main strands of football delivery, providing opportunities for girls aged five years and upwards at both recreational and competitive levels. All of our programmes work closely with Huddersfield Town Ladies FC as a way of inspiring the future players and promoting the female pathway. Please see below our three strands:

Wildcats

SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football Centres running in partnership with the FA provide girls aged 5-11 regular opportunities to play football. The initiative offers organised sessions in a fun and engaging environment created exclusively for girls.

Our Wildcats sessions take place on a weekly basis, both at school sites in partnership with primary schools and in community venues. The sessions provide a safe environment where girls can try football for the first time. The initiative aims to inspire participants to: engage with football; meet new friends; develop fundamental skills; learn new things and create the foundation for a lifelong love of football.

The Huddersfield Town Foundation’s SSE Wildcats programme launched in March 2018 and since that time has engaged over 90 girls in the programme. Sessions are charged at a nominal fee of £2.00 per participant and in some cases are free to participants if schools have purchased the programme directly.

Our SSE Wildcats programme offers the following opportunities for participants:

  • Local competitions to compete and display their skills;
  • Session visits from Huddersfield Town Ladies first team;
  • Opportunity to watch Huddersfield Town Ladies first team and / or HTAFC

Premier League Girls Football

The Premier League Girls programme provides a platform for females aged 11+ to take part in football at an appropriate level. The sessions are free and open to all. What’s more, the Foundation has close school links that allow us to support participants both in curriculum time and with the creation of our satellite sessions, which are hosted at different schools, colleges and within community.

The Huddersfield Town Foundation’s Premier Girls football programme launched in March 2018 and has been successful to date engaging over 200 female participants.  The programme provides free opportunities for females aged 11 years and above who live throughout Kirklees.

Our Premier League Girls football programme also offers the following opportunities for our female participants:

  • National, regional and local competitions to compete and display their skills;
  • Volunteering programmes to gain a variety of sport awards and qualifications towards their future employment pathway;
  • Session visits from Huddersfield Town Ladies first team; and
  • Opportunities to watch Huddersfield Town Ladies first team and/ or HTAFC

Player Development Centres

The Foundation’s Player Development Centres are a new offering that provides girls the opportunity to access high quality coaching and support specific to their age group, in addition to the training they may already receive through their club.

We provide Player Development Centres for girls in the age groups of under 10 and under 12. The cost is £120.00 per player for a 16-week programme, which includes a training top and shorts.
