Veterans and Armed Forces Support

Veterans and Armed Forces Lunch Club

In early 2024, we actively signed the Armed Forces Covenant, and received funding through the Veterans Foundation to further support Veterans and the Armed Forces Community of Kirklees.

Working with Tommy’s Lounge in central Huddersfield, we host a weekly lunch club where anyone with lived experience of the Armed Forces can join us for a complementary lunch and drink. We will be there every Wednesday from 11am until 1pm, so anyone can simply drop in and leave when they wish to.

This is a great opportunity to meet others who may have similar experiences, whether you have served yourself or have family that have. Tommy’s Lounge is a safe space for those within the Armed Forces Community, having been established and now run by those from the community.

  • "Tommys Lounge is a coffee lounge providing a safe space for our local Armed Forces Community and are extremely proud to be working with Huddersfield Town Foundation to not only provide a free meal and coffee to our local veterans but also to facilitate a set routine meeting place for our community to get together. The customers enjoy friendly banter as well as having access to advice, support, health checks and personal development opportunities with the foundation. We have seen a steady growth over the first month of the Lunch Club's inception and look forward to continuing our partnership over the coming years."
