Wellbeing Football

Our Wellbeing Football session provides a safe, inclusive space for men, aged 18+ who have lived experience of mental health conditions, to come together and participate in an organised football session.

Staff and Coaches on Wellbeing Football are Mental Health First Aid trained and take pride in creating an inclusive environment where positive conversations about mental health take place, and where everyone feels like they can be themselves. Sessions usually include coached small-sided games.

We regularly participate in the Good Mood League with our Wellbeing Footballers, which involves playing teams from around the region.

Wellbeing Football takes place weekly, every Thursday from 11am – 12:30pm at Leeds Road Sports Complex (HD2 1YY).

Most of the time we are indoors, but occasionally will be outdoors so please dress appropriately for taking part in football. We suggest people wear football boots, however we do not allow metal studs.

You can either contact us on help@htafcfoundation.com prior to attending, or show up on the day and one of our members of staff will greet you, introduce you to the group and ask you to complete a participant registration form.

  • "Football is a huge stress deterrent for Mihai. The group has also made him feel like he belongs in the local area, given him something to attend each week and allowed us to work on his confidence in many ways. He has also made some great friends there, perhaps his first true friends in the area for a long time. The group has also allowed him to lose weight which has massively increased his self-esteem."
