Foundation Fun In Filey!

The Town Foundation will give 300 local youngsters memories to last a lifetime next week with a trip to the seaside!

On Thursday 21 May, Huddersfield Town’s official registered charity will fulfil its remit of improving the lives of children and young people across the region by taking hundreds of kids to Filey for a day trip.

The children, all aged four to 11 from Town’s school partner and Early Kick Off Breakfast Club member Hillside Primary, will board eight coaches alongside their teachers and other staff for a day to remember.

Every child will receive a picnic lunch and drink, ice cream, stick of rock and a bucket and spade along with other treats; of which the latter have been kindly sponsored by Town’s commercial partners Abzorb, PPG and Shepley Spring.

The trip has been funded by the money raised from the 2014 Three Peaks Challenge and many of the walkers – including Town Chairman Dean Hoyle and Operations Director Ann Hough – will join the 300-strong party on the day to see the difference their efforts last year make to local youngsters.

Huddersfield Town’s Fundraising Manager Mandy Taylor explained:

“This trip is a first for the charity and promises to be a day to remember for the kids and staff alike.

“We intend to give the 300 children a traditional day at the seaside with activities like sandcastle building and a ‘Punch & Judy’ show – subject to the traditional British weather, of course!

“I’m delighted that some of the people who have made this trip possible for the children through their fundraising efforts can accompany us on the day to see what a difference they have made. I’m told a number of the children have never been to the seaside before, so this trip should make a big difference in their lives.”
