180 Attend Foundation’s ‘ladies Lunch’

180 ladies were taken to ‘Wonderland’ at the Town Foundation’s annual ‘Ladies who Lunch’ event on Friday afternoon.

The Alice and Wonderland themed event was sponsored for a third year running by Louise Woollard LLP and included a mad hatter’s tea party at Berties in Elland on Friday 13 November.

The event commenced with a drinks reception and had numerous fundraising activities going on throughout the afternoon – many of which were supported through the generosity of numerous Club partners and Town Foundation Friends.

The ladies enjoyed a themed afternoon tea and participated in many entertaining fundraising games. One lady walked away with an iPad mini courtesy of Abzorb and another First Class return rail ticket courtesy of Grand Central.

It is anticipated that several thousand pounds have been raised, coupled with a significant amount of moneys in good will gestures for Huddersfield Town’s official charity.

That money will go towards the work that the Town Foundation undertakes in our community to improve the lives of children and young people, such as the ‘Early Kick-Off’ breakfast club project. The spectacle of the day was when volunteer models ranging from 3 years-of-age upwards graced the catwalk showcasing fashion from many local retailers.

A twist in the event was the vast amount of local talent and entertainment on offer. There were musicians, magic, entertainers, comedy waiters and various dance schools showing off their talent to the ladies.

Mandy Taylor, the Town Foundation’s Fundraising Manager, said:

“Without the support for the third year running of Louise Woollard we simply could not have achieved this huge success which we did on the day.

“I also want to make a special mention to the army of volunteers who gave up their time, skills and good will to the charity.

“There are far too many to mention, however, we must give a very special mention indeed to  the team from Barclays, who not only helped on the day but will be donating an addition £3,000 in match funding to help us achieve our goal.”
