New Partnerships For The Town Foundation

Following on from the successful relaunch of the Huddersfield Town Foundation in March, the charity is delighted to announce two new fantastic partnerships.

The Foundation is broadening its horizons and will work across four key themes of Health, Education, Inclusion and Sports Participation.

Along those lines, the charity has welcomed on board Kirklees College as its Education Partner and One Kirklees as the Inclusion Partner.

Kirklees College will fund a Head of Education post for the Foundation for the next two years. This post will drive the education strategy, engaging all sections of the community and supporting the delivery of Sport in schools.

In turn the Kirklees College Football Academy will be renamed to the Huddersfield Town Foundation, in association with Kirklees College, Football Academy. All students will represent the Town Foundation and the College in British Colleges Football and the EFL National Futsal League. There will also be an opportunity to represent Emley AFC in the U19 Floodlit League.

“This is a very exciting partnership for all involved, we are delighted to be expanding our partnership working with the football club and we feel this can have a really positive impact on our students and the community as a whole”

Kirklees College’s Christian Thersby, who is pictured with Vice Principal June Durrant and ex-Town player turned Head of Football Coaching Kevin Donavan, explained:

“This is a very exciting partnership for all involved. We are delighted to be expanding our partnership working with the football club and we feel this can have a really positive impact on our students and the community as a whole.”

In addition, One Kirklees will fund the Head of Inclusion post at the Foundation for the next two years. This post will drive the Inclusion strategy, ensuring that the Town Foundation and the Club promotes inclusion across the wonderfully diverse community of Kirklees.

The role will also look after the EFL Equality Code of Practice work, ensuring that the stadium, Club and Foundation are following good practice and are fully inclusive.

This is a fantastic partnership and will allow the Foundation and One Kirklees to deliver some key projects and awareness work out in the community, truly living up to the Foundation’s strap line of ‘One Club One Community’.

Vas Patel, Lead Trustee at One Kirklees, commented:

“Football, like other sports, has the power to break down barriers between communities, promote equality for all and help create an inclusive and connected society.

“We are delighted to be supporting the Foundation as it embarks on its new innovative programme to bring about lasting change to the lives of individuals and communities in Kirklees.”
