26 Jun 30 Breakfast Clubs & Counting For The Foundation!
The Town Foundation’s marquee ‘Early Kick-Off’ Breakfast Club initiative continues to go from strength-to-strength, with a landmark 30th club launched in Dalton, Huddersfield on Monday morning.
Breakfast Club number 30 was launched at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Dalton, with children arriving from 7.45am to kick-start their learning days with a healthy breakfast of cereal, yogurt, fruit juice, toast and fresh fruit.
As well as the nutritious meal, the youngsters also get some early physical activity to begin their school day with a ‘Wake Up and Shake Up’ session that included singing, dancing, music, skipping – and even bowling!
At the start of National Sports Week, the ‘Wake Up and Shake Up’ activity fits perfectly with the Town Foundation’s support of the Premier League Communities’ ‘SuperMovers’ initiative. As a result, the ever-popular Terry the Terrier was on hand to join in with children and staff – showing off his now signature ‘floss’ dance made famous by video game Fortnite!

As well as several members of staff from the Town Foundation, the Breakfast Club launch was also attended by Jeanette Cartwright from supporter Kirklees Catering.
The Town Foundation’s Operations and Events Manager Julie Sheffield commented:
“Everyone at the charity is very proud today after the launch of our 30th Breakfast Club at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School.
“The school has been fantastic to work with and we’re delighted to play our part in ensuring the children are guaranteed a proper meal to start the day, which has been proven to be very beneficial to their learning.
“It’s also fantastic that we could tally this launch up with our support of the Premier League’s ‘SuperMovers’ scheme. Together, the combination of some physical exercise and the nutritious breakfast is the perfect mix for youngsters in a morning!
“As always, I’d like to thank the Foundation’s supporters – Town fans, other individuals and generous businesses – for their continued backing. Without you, we could not help so many children in our community in this manner.â€
Town’s ‘Early Kick-Off’ breakfast clubs, launched in October 2012, has now provided over one million healthy and nutritious meals for children in Kirklees and the surrounding area.
