‘ONE FAN, ONE CAN’ – BRING A DONATION TO THE READING GAME SATURDAY!

The ‘Fans for Foodbanks’ initiative will continue on Saturday 24 August 2019, with supporters urged to bring donations to the Reading game to benefit Batley Foodbank!

The Huddersfield Town Foundation (HTF) and the Huddersfield Town Supporters Association (HTSA) donated over 400 items to The Welcome Centre from the Lincoln and Fulham ‘Fans for Foodbanks’ collection, due to the generosity of the fans.

Over the course of the current season the ‘Fans for Foodbanks’ initiative has collected over 1,230 items!

This has enabled The Welcome Centre and Batley Foodbank to provide a weeks’ worth of food for over 30 families.

The Huddersfield Town Foundation and HTSA would like to say a huge thank you to Huddersfield Town fans for their generosity in supporting their ‘Fans for Foodbanks’ initiative.

Supporters are urged to make the Reading ‘Fans for Foodbanks’ collection another success to continue making a beneficial impact for those in need.

There will be two collection points at the John Smith’s Stadium for supporters to make their donations; one at the Stadium Health & Fitness Club entrance and one by the players entrance, near the South End of The Core Stand.

All donations are welcomed with Batley Foodbank desperately requiring:

– Tinned meat / fish
– Pasta Sauces
– Tinned tomatoes
– Tinned potatoes
– Breakfast cereal
– Coffee / Tea
– Sugar
– Packets of mash
– Tinned soup
– Packets of cup a soup
– Jam
– Cordial

The branded bins will be in situ from 1pm up until kick-off and fans are asked to bring along any long shelf life food they wish to donate – unfortunately, we cannot accept fresh foods.

All donations from the game will be given to Batley Foodbank for distributions in the local community for those who require assistance.

Lisa Bottomley, HTF Fundraising Coordinator, commented:

“We are thrilled with this seasons success of the ‘Fans for Foodbanks’ collection.

“The kindness of the fans is enabling us to really make a positive difference in our local community.

“I just want to say on behalf of the Town Foundation and HTSA a huge thank you to all fans for supporting our campaign.

“Our ‘Fans for Foodbanks’ collections will continue throughout the whole 2019/20 season as we continue making a positive difference in our local community.”

The food donations will be organised and distributed by HTF staff and HTSA members to Batley Foodbank at the John’s Smith Stadium on Wednesday 28 August at 11am. The Town Foundation and HTSA would appreciate any volunteers wishing to help assist with this process.
