THE TOWN FOUNDATION’S WEAR BLUE DAY WAS A SUCCESS!

The Huddersfield Town Foundation thanks fans for helping make their inaugural Wear Blue Day a complete success!

The Wear Blue Day was created to support Foundation initiatives such as the ‘Early Kick-Off’ Breakfast Clubs, which provides children at 41 schools a healthy and nutritious start to the day. At the time of writing the total raised is £869.23!

Over 20 schools and business took part in the event, including:

– Cowersley Primary School
– Healey Primary School
– Engage Academy
– Ravensthorpe Primary School
– Almondbury Community School
– Lady of Lourdes Primary School
– Beach Primary School
– Viessmann
– Abzorb
– Thornhill Dental
– Umbro
– Brewfitt
– HTAFC staff
– Premier League Kicks participants

Participants got involved in a number of different ways – Hartley’s Bakery supplied over 50 blue buns to be sold at Cowersley Primary School and Thornhill Dental turned their logo blue and held a cake sale!

In speaking about the campaign, Julie Pickles, from Cowlersley Primary School, said:

“The reason we decided to take part in Wear Blue was to support The Town Foundation, without The Town Foundation the majority of our children in school would go without eating any breakfasts.

“Children regularly attend the FREE Breakfast Club and we can keep a close eye on our most vulnerable children who without The Town Foundation would either arrive in school hungry or not arrive at school at all.

“Breakfast Club has also helped with our persistent late children, we have targeted these children and coaxed and them into attending Breakfast Club, their attendance now is nearly perfect.

“We as a school are so grateful for The Town Foundation and will support wherever possible.”

Wear Blue Day will be repeated in January 2021! If you’d like further information contact Fundraising Coordinator, Lisa Bottomley at Lisa.bottomley@htafcfoundation.com.
