The Huddersfield Town Foundation is challenging local businesses, partners and families to take part in this year’s Virtual Great North Run!

Taking place on Sunday 13 September 2020, the half marathon event has been adapted to allow everybody to take part in their local area.

Using the Great North Run’s app, runners will be able to track their run and view other results after the race has finished.

The race is open to runners of all abilities, and participants can take part by themselves or share the workload between a group of friends, family or colleagues.

The Town Foundation will have a team taking part and sharing the mileage, and we ask that you use the event to raise vital funds so that we can continue work across our Breakfast Clubs and other projects in Kirklees.

Entry to the race is free and can be done by visiting the Great North Run website. We ask that you pledge to fundraise £100 for the Town Foundation in the first instance.

Everybody who raises that amount will receive two tickets to a Huddersfield Town Sky Bet Championship match at the John Smith’s Stadium, once it is completely safe to do so. The match will be agreed with you subject to availability.

If you raise £250 you will be awarded a 2020/21 squad signed football, whilst a sum of £500 or more will earn you a 2020/21 squad signed home shirt.

Anybody who is able to raise £1,000 will receive two match day tickets into the White Rose Club, again, when it is completely safe to do so, and Government guidelines allow.

All participants will receive a downloadable certificate and Great North Run have set up an online store, where you can purchase merchandise such as medals, hoodies and water bottles.

On the event, Town Foundation Fundraising Executive Lisa Bottomley commented:

“We’re delighted to be taking part in this Year’s Great North Run, albeit not in its usual format.

“This year’s edition gives everybody the chance to take part and capitalise on the social element. It’s a fantastic way to create friendly workplace or friendship group competition!

“Funds raised will be used to support our projects benefiting a range of people in the local community, and I’d like to take this chance to thank you in advance for your support.”
