SUMMER MULTI-SPORT CAMPS GET OFF TO A SUCCESSFUL START!

The Huddersfield Town Foundation’s Summer Multi-Sport Camps returned to Leeds Road Sports Complex this week!

Youngsters between the ages of five and 11 were treated to three days of activities and workshops as the Foundation returned to in-person delivery for the first time since the COVID-19 lockdown.

Starting on Tuesday 11 August, children and parents were welcomed back to Leeds Road in a socially distant manner.

Upon registration the children were assigned to a bubble with four other participants, which they would stay in for the entirety of the three-day camp.

Each bubble also had the same coach throughout the week in order to ensure that everybody involved spent time around limited number of people, whilst still having a big enough group size to have fun!

A hot first day saw the children play a range of sports on the site’s 3G pitch, including cricket and football.

Town Foundation coaches also delivered a workshop reflecting on their experiences during lockdown, encouraging the children to talk about how it affected them.

The session also included a look ahead to the future and how to manage their return to school in September, an event which many children have expressed anxieties around.

Wednesday and Thursday followed a similar theme, incorporating different sports and activities into the mix to give the participants the best possible experience.

On the return of holiday camps, Town Foundation Primary Stars Manager Ruby Marlow commented:

“It was great to be able to get back to delivering practical sessions and see some old and new faces down at Leeds Road.

“Our staff were able to ensure that everything was delivered safely and we’re looking forward to going again next week!”

The Town Foundation is running two more camps in August, the first beginning on Tuesday 18 August and finishing on Thursday 20 August. The third and final camp will take place from Tuesday 25 August to Thursday 27 August.

The camp commencing on 18 August is now fully booked, but there are still a limited number of places available the week after that.
