10 Oct JOIN US FOR BIG SLEEP OUT 4 IN MARCH 2021!
On World Homelessness Day, the Huddersfield Town Foundation is delighted to announce details of its fourth Big Sleep Out Event, taking place on Friday 12 March 2021!
After three successful years, in which almost £130,000 has been raised for homelessness charities in Kirklees, the Foundation plans to deliver next year’s event bigger and better than before.
The Big Sleep Out is an opportunity to spend the night sleeping on the floor of the John Smith’s Stadium for a good cause, with participants encouraged to raise funds beforehand.
For this year’s event we are encouraging groups, whether that be work colleagues, friends and community groups to fundraise and participate together.
This will also be the first year that we have actively encouraged families to take part together, with a ratio of one adult per two children under the age of 16 advised.
You don’t have to be a Huddersfield Town fan – the event is open to anybody who wishes to make a difference to their local community. We do however ask that anybody taking part raises a minimum of £100.
Starting at 9pm on 12 March and finishing at 7am the next morning, the event will include refreshments  as per previous years.
It is important to note that the event  will be subject to Government Covid-19 guidelines and should we be unable to deliver it in its traditional format, we will revert to a virtual event and ask people to bed down in their gardens for the night .
When asked why they wanted to take part, some of the reasons given by last year’s participants included ‘wanting to know what it’s like to sleep rough’ and ‘wanting to give back to the community’.
On next year’s event, Town Foundation Fundraising Executive Lisa Bottomley commented:
“We’re delighted to be able to confirm details of next year’s Big Sleep Out – an event that has become extremely popular amongst the Huddersfield community.
Having recently distributed last year’s funds to eight deserving homelessness charities, we are looking forward to once again playing our part in tackling what is a prominent issue in Kirklees.â€

Everybody who registers by the end of the month (midnight on Saturday 31st October 2020), will be entered into a prize draw to win a pair of tickets to a Huddersfield Town home fixture with seats in the Directors Box.
This prize is subject to availability and the exact fixture will be organised with the winner when restrictions on supporters being allowed into stadia are lifted.
