EFL DAY OF ACTION CELEBRATES THE IMPACT OF FOOTBALL CLUBS IN THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITIES

Huddersfield Town and the Town Foundation proudly recognise the power football has to change people’s lives for the better.

Wednesday 14 April 2021 is the EFL Day of Action, a day designed to highlight the work carried out by the club in our local community.

This past year has undoubtedly been harder than most, but we are proud to have adapted our delivery to ensure the needs of local people are met as best possible.

Since March 2020, the Huddersfield Town Foundation has maintained delivery of its Breakfast Clubs for vulnerable children and those of key workers – with 61,700 breakfasts being served.

In addition, the Foundation has worked with local partners to provide 315 families with a food parcel.

The club’s registered charity has also continued to engage its child and adult participants virtually, running vital programmes such as Sporting Memories for those at risk of isolation and Premier League Kicks, a national initiative supporting those between 8 and eighteen.

To mark the Day of Action, defender Demeaco Duhaney visited Boothroyd Primary Academy in Dewsbury, one of the Town Foundation’s Premier League Primary Stars partner schools.

Demeaco assisted the students in a creative writing session based on designing a football stadium, giving an insight into the stadiums he’s played in.

Town players Josh Austerfield, Pat Jones, Kieran Phillips, Gio Bellagambi and Scott High are also joining a zoom call with Foundation participants up to 18 years old.

The event has been designed to give participants an insight into life as a professional footballer, with the Town players involved having differing levels of First Team and B Team involvement.

As Government restrictions continue to ease, the Town Foundation is now working towards relaunching more of its in-person sessions where possible.

The easiest way to keep up to date with the Town Foundation’s activities is to follow our Social Media Pages – Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Alternatively, the ‘News & Events’ tab of www.htafcfoundation.com is regularly updated with information.

The Town Foundation would also like to express its gratitude for the continued support it receives from the Huddersfield Town community. Without you its work would not be possible, so thank you.
