MORE THAN 200 CHILDREN TAKE PART IN UTILITA FOOTBALL FESTIVAL!

The Huddersfield Town Foundation recently partnered with the English Football League and Utilita to deliver the first ever Utilita Football Festival!

More than 200 primary-school aged children and their families took place in a fun-filled day of activities at Leeds Road Sports Complex on Wednesday 27 October 2021.

The day consisted of football tournaments for those in school years 3, 4, 5 and 6, with players representing different countries in a World Cup style format.

Town men’s centre-backs Matty Pearson and Tom Lees and Women’s team players Serena Fletcher and Ria Montgomery all visited the event, signing autographs and taking photos.

As an Official Supporter of the EFL and Principal Partner of Huddersfield Town, Utilita were on site with their ‘Energy High 5’ target practice/power shot challenge for children to test their skills.

The Energy Supplier also showcased their ‘Football Rebooted’ initiative with the help of ex England international David James MBE. Pearson and Lees donated several pairs of pre-loved boots from the Town squad to the initiative.

EFL partners Papa John’s were on site with free pizza all day and attendees also had the chance to have their photo taken with all five EFL trophies.

Other activities included an inflatable assault course and face painting.

On the event James Heyes, Partnerships Manager at Utilita commented:

“We were thrilled to collaborate with the EFL & Town Foundation to bring the local community together for a free, fun-filled festival.

“The inaugural Utilita Football Festival provided engaging activations, inclusive tournaments and promoted community integration in the Huddersfield area. The support & feedback from the Festival has been immense – we look forward to working with the Foundation in the future.”

Siobhan Atkinson, Town Foundation Chief Executive added:

“It was a pleasure to welcome everybody to Leeds Road Sports Complex for this truly unique event.

“To see so many smiley faces from both children and parents was a real privilege and I look forward to developing our partnership with Utilita further over the coming weeks and months.”

Throughout the year the Town Foundation delivers a range of activity designed to engaged primary-aged children, including but not limited to half-term sport camps.

On Monday 20, Tuesday 21 and Tuesday 22 December the charity will deliver sessions at Leeds Road Sports Complex and the DRAM Centre in Huddersfield.
