FOOTBALL CAMPS A HIT ACROSS THE APRIL SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!

Throughout both weeks of the April school holidays, primary and secondary-aged children spent time with the Huddersfield Town Foundation!

At Leeds Road Sports Complex, a total of 120 children aged between five and 11 played football with a further 30 doing the same at St John Fisher Academy in Dewsbury.

Additionally, 20 young people with special educational needs and/or a disability enjoyed two days of multi-sports activity.

Furthermore, staff facilitated four days of sports for 30 Year 8 students at North Huddersfield Trust School (NHTS) in Fartown during the second week.

The Town Foundation would like to place on record its thanks to Kirklees Council and the Department for Education, who funded places and a warm lunch for 80 children across the two weeks.

This funding came from their Holiday Activities and Food programme.

On Friday 22 April, the Huddersfield Town B team visited two sites! Connor Shanks and Danny Grant headed to NHTS, where they played dodgeball, took part in a Q&A and signed autographs.

Sonny Whittingham and Michael Stone also visited the younger children at Leeds Road Sports Complex, taking questions and giving out tips.

Again, our thanks go to the lads and academy staff for giving up their spare time – it made a huge impact and created lots of smiley faces!

Club Photographer Will Early was in attendance to capture the action on the final day – head to the Foundation’s Facebook page to check out some of the best shots.

The Town Foundation will deliver further football activity during the school holidays at the end of May, just before the Queen’s diamond jubilee weekend, with full details being confirmed shortly.
