FOUNDATION HITS 2.5 MILLION MEALS SERVED THROUGH BREAKFAST CLUBS

Huddersfield Town Foundation is proud to announce that we have surpassed a total of 2.5 million breakfasts served since the inception of our Breakfast Clubs.

Delivering nutritious meals since 2012, our Breakfast Clubs have helped to give many children the best possible start to a day of learning with a range of healthy, nutritious, and energy-providing items of food being consumed before school begins.

The Foundation executes several events per year to fundraise to continue our execution of the Breakfast Clubs across the area, which costs over £140,000 to run.

The money raised from Wear Blue Day, Big Sleep Out, and Fizz Friday, which takes place on Friday 24 November this year, helps to financially back our cause, and that’s why they hold a significant place in our and our backers’ calendars.

As the Club and its Official Charity celebrates the English Football League’s Week of Action, we were pleased to have Town Manager Darren Moore announce that we smashed another milestone!

Moore broke the news on Tuesday morning on his visit to St Thomas CE (VE) Primary School, where he enjoyed the morning speaking and having breakfast with the pupils in attendance, with one young person keen to make him some toast!

Chief Executive Officer Siobhan Atkinson commented:

“It is with immense pride that we can announce that we’ve reached the unbelievable figure of serving over 2.5 million breakfasts to young people all over Kirklees in the past 10 years.

“It is a testament to the support of people who kindly donate each month and who attend our many fundraising events as without those funds we wouldn’t have been able to sustain this work.

“I’m also grateful to long-term corporate partners Total Food Service and Caterers Choice, who have remained committed to this venture for over 10 years and welcome Utilita Giving, who will join us in our mission to fight food poverty across our community.

“Our work won’t stop tomorrow – we are the only Football Club Charity to have such a programme and it goes to show how much importance Huddersfield Town places on ensuring that our community is supported.

“Today, we can take a moment to reflect on all of our work and this outstanding milestone and celebrate the 2.5 million breakfasts that have helped young people.”
