FOUNDATION’S JOE SCARGILL NOMINATED FOR A THEBUSINESSDESK.COM YORKSHIRE LEADERSHIP AWARD

Huddersfield Town Foundation is proud to announce that our Senior Youth Engagement Manager Joe Scargill has been nominated for an accolade at TheBusinessDesk.com’s Yorkshire 2024 Leadership Awards.

The Yorkshire business community will come together to celebrate the best in business leadership on Thursday 21 March 2024 at The Queen’s Hotel in Leeds city centre.

The Leadership Awards offer a great opportunity to recognise and showcase the achievements and success of businesses in the region.

TheBusinessDesk.com created the Yorkshire Leadership Awards to celebrate the people who are role models within their organisations and raise the bar for their competitors. The winners will show the qualities of extraordinary leadership and be able to demonstrate the positive impact this has had.

Chosen as part of a six-person category of ‘Young Leader’, Joe has shown his incredible dedication to giving the young people of Kirklees a voice, as well as positively impacting those facing destitution.

Overseeing several of the Foundation’s youth engagement programmes, such as our flagship provision Premier League Kicks, being the driving force behind the beginning of our Twinning Project, a programme that provides qualifications to female prisoners to better prepare them for life after their release, and his social action work with a group at the Eden Centre, Joe is a vital member of the Foundation’s staff.

We are incredibly proud to see him be shortlisted for the award after our nomination. He would be a deserved winner due to his commitment to helping the lives of people from different backgrounds and upbringings.

The Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer Siobhan Atkinson commented:

“Joe has made a massive contribution since joining the Foundation back in December 2021. He has thoroughly embedded himself in the organisation.

“This has been the same with the range of stakeholders and groups that he has built connections with on behalf of the Foundation.

“Young people really do look up to him and see him as a role model, and he’s gone out of his way to facilitate many special opportunities for young people on our programmes.

“I really hope the judges will see what a contribution he has made.”

Commenting on the nomination, Joe Scargill added:

“A huge and heartfelt thanks to the judges for shortlisting me; I am absolutely honoured to have been nominated for this award by my colleagues.

“Whilst it would be lovely to win, being nominated by the people I work with is what I am proudest of. They motivate and inspire me in my role, and we wouldn’t be able to achieve what we do as an organisation if it wasn’t for the collective efforts of the team.”

The Foundation would like to place on record a massive congratulations to Joe, and we wish him all the best on the night!
