‘ONE FAN, ONE CAN’ – BRING A DONATION ON SUNDAY!

The Town Foundation has made a plea to supporters coming to this Sunday’s Premier League game against Manchester United – bring just one can to donate to the ‘Fans for Foodbanks’ initiative!

Generous Town fans have already donated around 8,400 items to the foodbanks across the course of the current Premier League campaign – an amazing feat – but the charity is hoping to make a real impact this weekend.

If everyone of the 24,000 fans expected at the game this weekend brought just one can to donate, the day would eclipse the seasonal total!

The donation will once again go to Batley Foodbank; a vital resource in the local community. Recent statistics from the Trussell Trust show that foodbank usage has increased by 73% over the last five years, so your donations will make a real difference.

The ‘Fans for Foodbanks’ initiative, run in tandem by the Town Foundation and HTSA, needs:

– Tinned meat
– Pasta
– Cooking sauces
– Toiletries
– Tea/Coffee

There is a total of six branded bins that fans can drop off donations at the John Smith’s Stadium, along with one at PPG Canalside:

– Three by the players’ entrance at the John Smith’s Stadium
– Two by the Health Club at the Stadium
– One by the home area of the South Stand

If you want to donate before the Manchester United match, then feel free to drop your items down to the Town Foundation Offices at Leeds Road Sports Complex, Leeds Rd, Huddersfield HD2 1YY.

Town Foundation Chief Executive Siobhan Atkinson explained:

“Huddersfield Town fans are rightly known for their amazing generosity, and for how much they care about their community.

“The ‘Fans for Foodbanks’ initiative has made a fantastic impact already, with close to 10,000 donations already made. However, we’re looking to smash all records this weekend! The Manchester United game is set to be a sell-out and if everyone can make just one donation, it would make a huge impact on the day-to-day lives of some of our neighbours.”
