Free SEND Inclusion in PE Workshop to Support Schools Across Huddersfield

Education professionals across Huddersfield and surrounding areas are invited to attend a free SEND Inclusion in Physical Education workshop at the Accu Stadium on Thursday, 11 June 2026.

Delivered by leading practitioner Angela Lydon in partnership with the Huddersfield Town Foundation, this practical and engaging session is designed to help schools strengthen inclusive PE provision and boost staff confidence in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Taking place from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Accu Stadium, Stadium Way, Huddersfield (HD1 6PG), the workshop offers a valuable opportunity for educators to gain practical, ready-to-implement strategies that make a meaningful difference in the classroom and on the sports field.

Supporting Inclusive Practice in Schools

This interactive session will combine theory and hands-on learning, giving attendees the tools they need to deliver PE lessons that are accessible, engaging, and inclusive for all pupils.

Participants will:

  • Enhance their confidence in delivering inclusive PE lessons

  • Learn practical adaptations for different areas of disability

  • Explore proven frameworks such as the STEP principle

  • Leave with ready-to-use strategies tailored to their school setting

Each school is invited to send up to two staff members, ensuring knowledge can be shared and embedded across teams.

  • 1:00–1:10 PM – Welcome & Introduction

  • 1:10–1:20 PM – Table discussion: What was PE like for you?

  • 1:25–1:30 PM – Group feedback

  • 1:30–1:40 PM – Overview of the STEP principle

  • 1:40–2:00 PM – Practical session: Applying STEP in PE

  • 2:00–2:10 PM – Break

  • 2:10–2:30 PM – Tailored “Top Tips” for adapting PE for different areas of disability

  • 2:30–3:00 PM – Case study carousel (with feedback)

  • 3:00–3:30 PM – Open Q&A, discussion, and close
