Players from the Huddersfield Town Academy helped deliver donated toys as part of the Club and Huddersfield Town Foundation’s partnership with Cash for Kids for its Mission Christmas campaign on Monday 15 December.
In the lead-up to Christmas, Huddersfield Town supporters generously donated new and unwrapped toys at collection points located in the Club Shop, Legends Bar and outside the Community Hub on matchdays.
The donations will now be distributed to children and families across the region who would otherwise go without a Christmas gift.
U21 players Peter Thomas and Oliver Calland, alongside U18 players Patrick Key, Marlie Neil and Bobby Escritt, visited the Mission Christmas headquarters to deliver the donated gifts on behalf of the Club, Foundation and supporters.
The toy appeal helps the foundation in delivering on its mission to ensure people in the region can GROW through learning and opportunity, BELONG through connection and inclusion and THRIVE through improved wellbeing.
Sam Sutton, Head of Academy Player Care, said:
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for our academy players to support the foundation and come along to contribute to all the good work that’s going on in the community.
“The boys took time to learn about the work that goes on with the Toy Appeal, and supported other volunteers in donating and preparing Christmas presents, ensuring all local children will receive presents this Christmas.”
David Threlfall-Sykes, Chief Operating Officer for Huddersfield Town and Trustee of Huddersfield Town Foundation, added:
“Mission Christmas is a hugely important campaign and as a Club we recognise the responsibility we have to use our platform to support initiatives that make a genuine difference in our community.
“The generosity shown by our supporters has been exceptional and it’s inspiring to see the Club, Foundation and Academy working together to ensure children across our region can experience the joy of receiving a gift at Christmas.
“Being involved in Mission Christmas reflects our values as a football club and our ongoing commitment to supporting families who need it most, particularly at such an important time of year.”
Sam Dainty, CEO of the Huddersfield Town Foundation, said:
“Mission Christmas is about ensuring no child goes without during the festive period and the support we’ve received from the Club, Academy and supporters has been incredible.
