Huddersfield Town Foundation and Huddersfield Town AFC Donate Christmas Lunches and Laptops to The Welcome Centre

23 Dec 2025

This Christmas, Huddersfield Town Foundation and Huddersfield Town Football Club supported our community by donating laptops to improve digital inclusion and helping to provide 100 Christmas meals for those who needed them most. This was all with the help of the Welcome Centre.

The 100 Christmas meals will provide warmth and comfort to individuals and families facing hardship, while the donated laptops will help provide people in Kirklees access to essential online services, education, and employment opportunities.

The Foundation and The Welcome Centre share a long-standing partnership, most notably through the annual Big Sleep Out. The seventh edition, held earlier this year, raised nearly £10,000 - contributing to an impressive £170,000 total since the event began.

This collaboration reflects the Foundation’s mission to ensure people across the region can GROW through learning and opportunity, BELONG through connection and inclusion, and THRIVE through improved wellbeing.

Sam Dainty, CEO of Huddersfield Town Foundation, said:

"Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time for many families, and we are committed to doing what we can to support our community. Providing meals and laptops is about more than meeting immediate needs, it’s about giving people dignity, opportunity, and hope. Our partnership with The Welcome Centre is a powerful example of what can be achieved when organisations come together for the good of our town."

Charlie Taylor, Fundraising Manager of The Welcome Centre, added:

“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from Huddersfield Town Foundation. Their generous donation helped cover the cost of the Christmas meal vouchers we offered this year, ensuring people we support could choose food that best suited their own needs and preferences.

“Each year, we provide additional Christmas support, and this year we chose to offer £5 per person vouchers instead of a pre-prepared meal. This approach allowed individuals and families to make their own dignified choices about what food to purchase during the festive period.

“We were then absolutely thrilled to receive the news that the Foundation would also be donating brand new laptops to pass on to families in need. These laptops will provide vital access to home education, digital services, and opportunities that can significantly improve quality of life.

“Thank you once again to Huddersfield Town Foundation for your generosity and ongoing commitment to our community. We truly value this partnership and look forward to continuing our incredible work together in 2026.”
