The Huddersfield Town Foundation welcomed more than 150 schoolchildren from across Kirklees to the Accu Stadium on Wednesday 10 December for its Winter Wonderland Christmas Movie Event.
The festive occasion, held in the stadium’s Riverside Suite, saw pupils from eight local schools enjoy a special screening of the Christmas classic Elf.
The event formed part of Huddersfield Town’s wider Tinsel Town Christmas campaign, celebrating the season while giving back to the local community.
Each child attending received festive refreshments and popcorn, kindly donated by Hickory’s Smokehouse Huddersfield, helping to create a memorable and enjoyable experience for all involved.
Following the screening, Terry the Terrier visited to say goodbye to each child, presenting them with a letter from Santa and a complimentary ticket to watch Huddersfield Town. Two lucky children also discovered a golden ticket in their envelope, granting them the opportunity to be a mascot at a future Huddersfield Town match.
The Christmas Movie Event was hosted to recognise the incredible work carried out by schools across the Kirklees area, while also supporting the Foundation’s mission to ensure people in the region can GROW through learning and opportunity, BELONG through connection and inclusion, and THRIVE through improved wellbeing.
Lucy Summerton, Fundraising and Partnerships Manager at the Huddersfield Town Foundation, said:
“Events like this are a brilliant way for us to say thank you to local schools for the fantastic work they do every day.
“For some of the children, it was their very first visit to the Accu Stadium, and seeing their excitement as they experienced it for the first time was incredibly special.
“Bringing children into the Accu Stadium at Christmas time and giving them a fun, shared experience helps create lasting memories while reinforcing a sense of belonging within our community.”
Sam Dainty, CEO of the Huddersfield Town Foundation, added:
“We are incredibly proud to host events that use the power of Huddersfield Town to support and inspire young people across Kirklees.
“The Winter Wonderland Movie Event perfectly reflects our commitment to creating inclusive opportunities that improve wellbeing and help our community thrive, especially during the festive season.”
