Huddersfield Town Foundation Hosts Inclusive SEND Disco as Part of Tinsel Town Christmas Campaign

22 Dec 2025

The Huddersfield Town Foundation brought festive joy to local families on Wednesday 17 December as it hosted a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Disco at the Accu Stadium. Up to 30 children aged 8–18, along with their carers, enjoyed an evening designed to be fun, inclusive and accessible for all.

The event formed a key part of Huddersfield Town’s wider Tinsel Town Christmas campaign, which celebrates the season while giving back to the community.

Children took part in arts and crafts, dancing, a finger buffet, and several lively rounds of pass the parcel.

A surprise visit from First Team players Joe Low, Ben Wiles, Marcus Harness, Lasse Sorensen, Jacob Chapman, Mickel Miller, Herbie Kane and Antony Evans, along with club mascot Terry the Terrier, added an extra spark of excitement to the night.

Events like the SEND Disco support the Foundation’s mission to ensure people across the region can GROW through learning and opportunity, BELONG through connection and inclusion, and THRIVE through improved wellbeing.

Charlotte Thornton, Wellbeing Coordinator at the Huddersfield Town Foundation, said:

“Seeing the children light up the room with confidence and joy is what this event is all about.

“Our aim is to create spaces where every young person feels valued, included and able to be themselves.

“The SEND Disco is a wonderful reminder of the power of community and we’re incredibly proud to offer experiences that make families feel supported and connected.”

Sam Dainty, CEO of Huddersfield Town, added:

“Our club is built on the belief that football can be a force for good, and events like this show that in action.

“The players loved being part of the evening, and it’s fantastic to see the Foundation continuing to deliver meaningful, inclusive opportunities for young people across Kirklees.

“This is exactly what Huddersfield Town stands for - community, connection and care.”
