Monday 18 May 2026 marked a special occasion for Huddersfield Town Foundation, as it hosted a Parkinson’s Walking Football tournament, bringing together over 50 players from seven teams across the North of England.
Walking Football continues to play an important role in supporting people with Parkinson’s to remain active, improve mobility and build confidence in a safe and supportive environment.
Throughout the day, players demonstrated fantastic spirit, teamwork and determination, with each team contributing to an encouraging and uplifting environment. More than just a tournament, the event served as a platform for building friendships, exchanging stories and strengthening the Parkinson’s community across the region.
Huddersfield Town Foundation remains committed to delivering inclusive programmes that empower individuals to stay active and connected, using the power of football to help people GROW, THRIVE and BELONG.
Matthew Crookes, Physical Health Manager at Huddersfield Town Foundation, said:
“We are incredibly proud to have hosted such a fantastic tournament and to welcome teams from across the North of England to Huddersfield. It was inspiring to see over 50 players come together, not just to play football, but to support one another and share their individual journeys with Parkinson’s.
“Our Walking Football programme is about much more than the game itself. It’s about creating a supportive community where people feel valued, connected and empowered. Events like this demonstrate the real impact football can have on both physical and mental wellbeing.”
