Huddersfield Town Foundation launches new Sports Business and Management degree in partnership with USW and EFL in the Community

6 Feb 2026

Huddersfield Town Foundation is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new BA (Hons) Sports Business and Management degree, delivered in partnership with the University of South Wales (USW) and EFL in the Community, beginning in September 2026.

The degree will provide aspiring sports professionals with a unique opportunity to learn while working directly within a professional football club, gaining three years of hands‑on experience, regular placement opportunities and access to industry experts across the sporting community.

The programme has been designed to prepare students for a wide range of careers across sports business, leadership and management. With the support of a dedicated Club Mentor and Academic Development Officer, learners will be guided through a blend of academic teaching and real-world experience, ensuring they develop the knowledge, confidence and skills needed to thrive in their chosen pathway.

Throughout the three-year degree, students will explore key areas including sports finance, marketing, promotion, human resource management, business analytics, enterprise in sport, strategic development, policy, governance, and leadership. They will also complete an applied professional project, allowing them to bring together all the skills they have developed during their studies.

This new degree programme reflects the Foundation’s mission to ensure people across the region can GROW through learning and opportunity, BELONG through connection and inclusion, and THRIVE through improved wellbeing.

Dan Jarvis, Senior Education Manager at Huddersfield Town Foundation, said:
“We are incredibly proud to be launching this degree in partnership with USW and EFL in the Community. Sport has the power to transform lives, and this programme opens doors for people who want to build meaningful careers within the industry. The opportunity to learn on the job within a professional club environment is invaluable. Students will not only gain an academic qualification but will develop the practical skills, networks and confidence needed to succeed in the sports sector.”

Chris Melotte, Higher Education Mentor at Huddersfield Town Foundation, added:
“This degree gives learners a rare chance to immerse themselves in the day‑to‑day operations of a football club while developing a strong academic foundation. Over the three years, they will be supported, challenged and encouraged to grow both personally and professionally. We’re excited to welcome our first cohort in 2026 and to see the positive impact they’ll make—within the club, in the community, and across the wider world of sport.”
