Huddersfield Town Foundation Set to Deliver First Heart of the Town Programme in Dewsbury

26 Mar 2026

Huddersfield Town Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the next cohort of Heart of the Town, a transformative 12‑week programme designed to support adults across Kirklees in improving their physical and mental wellbeing.

Heart of the Town offers a blend of weekly classroom‑based learning and practical exercise sessions, creating a holistic and supportive environment for participants to explore their health.

Over the course of the programme, individuals will engage with key wellbeing topics including diet and nutrition, diabetes awareness, mental health, and weight management. Each session is designed to build confidence, deepen understanding and encourage sustainable long‑term habits.

The programme will begin on Tuesday 12th May and run for 12 consecutive weeks. The first and final sessions will be delivered at Dewsbury Town Hall from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Sessions 2 to 11 will take place at BoxKing in Ravensthorpe from 6pm to 7.30pm. This structure enables participants to benefit from both educational content and guided physical activity in motivating, accessible spaces within the community.

Open to adults aged 18 and over, Heart of the Town is ideal for anyone looking to take proactive steps toward improving their physical health, including goals related to BMI, cardiovascular health and general wellbeing. The programme requires no previous fitness experience and has been designed to ensure all participants feel welcomed, supported and encouraged from the very first session.

This programme reflects the Foundation’s mission to ensure people across Kirklees can GROW through learning and opportunity, BELONG through connection and inclusion, and THRIVE through improved wellbeing.

Matthew Crookes, Physical Health Manager at Huddersfield Town Foundation, said:
Heart of the Town is a programme that truly empowers people to take control of their health. By combining education with practical activity, we’re able to give participants the confidence, tools and support they need to make sustainable, positive changes. It’s incredible to see how individuals grow over the 12 weeks, not just physically, but in their mindset and motivation. We’re committed to helping every participant feel supported, encouraged and capable of achieving their goals.
