Huddersfield Town and the Huddersfield Town Foundation are pleased to announce a new partnership with the national Chatty Café Scheme, bringing a weekly Chatter & Natter table to Legends Café at the Accu Stadium.

Beginning Wednesday 29th April, the sessions will take place every Wednesday from 9.30am–10.30am. The Chatter & Natter Table offers a friendly, welcoming space where anyone can drop in, sit down and enjoy a conversation with others in the community.

This initiative aims to bring people together, reduce feelings of loneliness and create a warm, inclusive environment within the heart of the stadium. Whether people stay for five minutes or the full hour, everyone is welcome to join the table.

Everyone attending the Chatter & Natter table will also receive a complimentary hot drink to enjoy in the company of others.

Alongside open conversation, some weeks will also feature light-touch activities designed to help spark interaction and strengthen social connection. These may include fun quizzes, relaxed games, themed conversations or occasional guest speakers from local organisations and community groups.

Members of the Huddersfield Town Foundation’s team are trained Dementia Friends, ensuring that the Chatter & Natter sessions remain welcoming and supportive for people living with dementia.

Bethany Cook, Senior Health and Wellbeing Manager at the Huddersfield Town Foundation, said:

“For several years, our Sporting Memories sessions have given people a meaningful way to connect through shared experiences of sport. The Chatter & Natter table complements this by providing an alternative where anyone can simply turn up, have a chat and feel part of a friendly community. We know how powerful a simple conversation can be and we’re delighted to create another space where people in Kirklees can feel welcomed, supported and valued.”

Zoe Shackleton, Head of HR and EDI at Huddersfield Town, said:

“We’re delighted to become part of the Chatty Café network and to host a weekly Chatter and Natter table at our popular Legends Café Bar. The Chatty Café scheme aligns with many of our equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives and desire to ensure that the Accu Stadium is a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

“We hope that by participating in the scheme we can help to reduce loneliness and social isolation that some people experience, which is something that is very important to us. Attendees can be assured of receiving a warm welcome and friendly faces; we’re looking forward to meeting many people from 29th April onwards.”

The Chatty Café Scheme is dedicated to creating opportunities for conversation across the UK, helping to combat isolation through simple, everyday interactions. By partnering with the scheme, Huddersfield Town and the Huddersfield Town Foundation are furthering their shared commitment to community wellbeing and connection across Kirklees.

The Chatter & Natter table runs every Wednesday from 9.30am to 10.30am at Legends Café in the Accu Stadium, starting Wednesday 29 April. Simply turn up, take a seat and enjoy a friendly chat.
