Young people from Huddersfield Town’s Premier League Kicks programme enjoyed two outstanding tournament experiences this month, proudly representing the club while showcasing exceptional footballing ability, teamwork, and personal development.
Nine participants travelled to Sheffield Wednesday to compete in the Dark Nights Kicks Cup, where they demonstrated impressive skill and sportsmanship throughout the day. Alongside the football, the group took part in an important workshop focused on staying safe on the streets, particularly as bonfire night approaches and darker evenings set in. The event provided valuable learning opportunities both on and off the pitch. A huge thank you goes to Sheffield Wednesday FC Community Programme for hosting a fantastic tournament.
Meanwhile, ten participants from the Salendine Nook Premier League Kicks session represented Huddersfield Town at the High Sheriff Cup, hosted by the Manchester United Foundation. After a brilliant day of football, the team were crowned champions, rounding off a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The group also engaged in a workshop exploring Black History Month and its connection to kindness—an ethos they carried into their matches, contributing to a positive and respectful atmosphere throughout the tournament. We extend our thanks to Manchester United Foundation for delivering a superb event.
These opportunities highlight the power of Premier League Kicks in supporting young people’s personal growth, community awareness, and love of the game.
These events embody our commitment to helping young people GROW through new experiences and learning, BELONG through positive relationships and inclusive environments, and THRIVE through confidence, wellbeing, and personal development.
Joe Scargill, Senior Community Engagement Manager, said:
“Both tournaments were a fantastic reflection of what Premier League Kicks is all about—giving young people the chance to develop, learn, and express themselves in a positive environment. Our participants represented Huddersfield Town with pride, respect, and enthusiasm, both on and off the pitch. Seeing them embrace the workshops, support one another, and showcase such kindness and maturity is something we’re incredibly proud of.”
