Huddersfield Town’s Lasse Sørensen was honoured as the 2026 PFA Community Champion ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture against Mansfield Town, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the local community.

The award, which celebrates players for their commitment and impact beyond the pitch, was presented pitchside prior to kick-off by Sam Dainty, Chief Executive Officer of the Huddersfield Town Foundation.

Lasse has played a key role in supporting the work of the Huddersfield Town Foundation, regularly engaging with projects, participants and community initiatives across the district. His enthusiasm, approachability and genuine commitment to building relationships has made a lasting impression on both participants and staff alike.

The Huddersfield Town Foundation continues to harness the power of football to make a lasting difference in communities across Kirklees. Through inclusive, welcoming programmes that extend beyond traditional activity, the Foundation provides young people with opportunities to develop confidence, build positive relationships and discover their potential. By creating environments where everyone feels valued and supported, the Foundation empowers individuals to GROW, THRIVE and BELONG within their local communities.

Speaking after receiving the award, Lasse said:

“I have always been the kind of person who enjoys getting involved with the local community, so to be recognised for that gives me a sense of pride. Meeting people, talking, and hearing stories is something that means a lot to me and it’s something I really enjoy, so to be put up for an award on behalf of that is just a bonus. To create relationships with people in the local community is what it’s all about, and it’s definitely something that puts a smile on my face.

Thank you to those who put me forward for this award. I look forward to continuing my work within the community in future and meeting more nice people around Huddersfield.”

Sam Dainty, CEO of the Huddersfield Town Foundation, paid tribute to Lasse’s impact:

“Lasse is a fantastic ambassador for Huddersfield Town and for our Foundation. He approaches every community engagement with genuine warmth, humility and enthusiasm, and the impact that has on the people he meets is significant. This award is thoroughly deserved and reflects not just the time he gives, but the care and authenticity he shows when representing the Club in the community. We are extremely proud of him.”

Huddersfield Town would like to congratulate Lasse on his achievement and thank him for his continued dedication to supporting the local community through the work of the Huddersfield Town Foundation.
