North Huddersfield Trust Students Showcase Creative ‘Swans Are Swimming’ Project for Premier League Inspires

22 Dec 2025

Students from North Huddersfield Trust School have embraced the seventh day of the ‘12 Days of Christmas’ theme – ‘Swans Are Swimming’ by creating a meaningful and visually striking artwork as part of their Premier League Inspires Challenge.

The group designed a large placard featuring one swan and six ducklings, inspired by the story of The Ugly Duckling to spark conversations around identity, confidence, and positive self‑image. The swan was creatively designed in the colours of iconic Huddersfield Town shirts, celebrating club heritage while reinforcing the message that everyone’s journey of growth is unique.

Alongside the artwork, students produced motivational flashcards carrying uplifting messages aimed at encouraging young people to value themselves, challenge negative perceptions, and support one another.

The finished piece was proudly displayed near the Chestnut Centre in Deighton as part of a wider 12 Days of Christmas community installation, which brought together local organisations, residents, and community groups. The Deighton event featured a range of creative displays and activities, offering a vibrant celebration of local talent and community spirit.

North Huddersfield Trust’s project will also be showcased at an event on the 18th, where it will help facilitate positive discussions around body image with elected members and partners connected to the Premier League Inspires programme.

This project reflects our commitment to helping young people GROW through creativity and self‑expression, THRIVE through improved confidence and wellbeing and BELONG through inclusive and supportive environments.

Joe Scargill, Senior Community Engagement Manager, said:

“The students have created something truly powerful. Their artwork not only showcases creativity but opens the door to important conversations about self‑worth and body image. Seeing them use the Premier League Inspires programme to express themselves, challenge perceptions, and contribute to their community is incredibly inspiring. We’re proud of the maturity and thoughtfulness they’ve shown throughout this project.”
