THE HUDDERSFIELD TOWN FOUNDATION ASK FANS TO BRACE THEMSELVES FOR THE BIG SLEEP OUT 2020!

On Friday 6 March, the Huddersfield Town Foundation will once again be asking supporters to rollout their sleeping bags and take part in the third Big Sleep Out.

Building on the success of the past two years, the Town Foundation’s aim is to encourage 300 people to take part in bedding down at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Over 200 people braved the rain and the cold in March 2019 to raise over £50,000, which has since been distributed to local charities including The Welcome Centre, Huddersfield and the Batley Foodbank.

Previous participants include former Club owners Dean and Janet Hoyle, Huddersfield Town’s Commercial Director and Town Foundation Trustee, Sean Jarvis and the Chief Executive of Kirklees Council, Jacqui Gedman.

Participants are asked to fundraise at least £100 per person to take part in the event. All funds raised will continue to be distributed to local homeless causes in and around the Kirklees area.

Lisa Bottomley, Fundraising Coordinator at the Huddersfield Town Foundation, commented:

“The Huddersfield Town Foundation are thrilled to be delivering the third Big Sleep Out.

“While we cannot fully replicate the conditions of being homeless, this event goes some way to educating our community on the difficulties and reality of spending your nights on the streets.

“The level of support in previous years has been phenomenal and we have raised in excess of £100,000, which makes a huge difference across Kirklees.

“We want to encourage as many people as possible over the age of 13 to take part in the event, not limited to Huddersfield Town fans and supporters.”

Brave participants will be kept warm throughout the night with hot drinks and snacks supplied by chefs from Huddersfield Town’s PPG Canalside.

Fans are still able to register their interest by emailing fundraising@htafcfoundation.com.

Those who have already expressed interest will shortly be contacted to complete the full application form.

Additionally, the Foundation will soon be looking for sponsors for the event. If your company would like to get involved, please contact Lisa Bottomley at Lisa.bottomley@htafcfoundation.com for further information.
